Agroecology Center: Nature Preserve Chajbaoc

Thanks to a mutually beneficial partnership with the owners of the Chajbaoc private nature preserve and the adjacent historic San Ramon farm, CCFC has a valuable partner. CCFC's Agroecology workshops bring you young women to this amazing fragment of cloud forest at the edge of Coban. This small parcel of cloud forests has some amazing surprises. On the San Ramon farm young women can learn how to raise fish and grow beautiful gardens. San Ramon farm also produces heirloom Q'eqchi' crops affording CCFC the perfect opportunity to connect ecological agriculture to Q'eqchi' culture and history.

Young women participating in CCFC's scholarship program study on both the San Ramon farm and tour the Chajbaoc reserve.

Bird watchers are more than welcome to visit this amazing forest fragment.

To date 120 species of birds have been reliably recorded by CCFC's bird monitor, John Cahill at this birding hotspot. Highlights from recent discoveries include Scaled Antpitta and a nesting Green-throated Mountain Gem. Golden-winged Warblers can be found here in abundance during migration.

Below is a list of recently recorded species at the birding hotspot the Chajbaoc farm.
